Welcome Party
We hope you’ll join us for a fun, casual event to kick off the weekend and outlast the jet lag. We will be serving drinks and heavy apps.
Escuma is a private beach and restaurant located in the town of Le Lavandou, about 30 minutes from Hyeres. Attire is casual, so please feel free to spend the day or afternoon at the beach in Le Lavandou and make your way over to Escuma, which is on the main beach in Le Lavandou, to ring in the weekend.
We will have buses returning to Le Lodge des Iles d’Or, Hotel Bor, Hameau des Pesquiers and Château de la Pascalette in Hyeres at 9:30 and 11 PM. To get to Le Lavandou from Hyeres, we recommend either using Uber or booking a taxi through your hotel. -
Ceremony
Alex will cry in front of his entire family.
Busses will depart from the main hotels in Hyeres for the ceremony on the below schedule. For guests staying at Le Lodge and Le Hameau des Pesquiers, please note that buses will pick up and drop off at the bus stops a short walk from the hotels, as pickup on property is not permitted.

Reception
Please enjoy a cocktail hour while the wedding party and family takes photos following the ceremony. Following that, there will be a plated dinner, and then dancing into the wee hours.
We will have buses departing the reception for the main hotels beginning at 11 PM and leaving every hour until 2 AM. Note that the mini buses will serve Chateau Pascalette and Hotel Bor, and the larger auto buses will serve Le Lodge and Hameau des Pesquiers. -
Brunch
While we know a lot of people will be leaving today, we would love to see you all one last time and share a mimosa to cap off the weekend.
We will be hosting a light brunch of coffee, mimosas and French pastries at Le Marais in Hyeres. Come in your finest beachwear to recount stories from Saturday night.
Le Marais is set on a private beach on Plage de Ceinturon, where we will plan to spend our afternoon following the brunch along with anyone looking for a beach afternoon before heading out.

We cannot wait to be with you all in the south of France this summer! When we started thinking about where to have our wedding, we couldn’t imagine anywhere better to gather all of our friends and family than the Côte d’Azur, where Alex spent his childhood summers and we have so many wonderful memories.

The Couple
Mari & Alex
We met in New York City in the spring of 2022, at a bar that Alex has called “too loud for a first date” and Mari has called “very close to my apartment.” Despite our different opinions on Jungle Bird, one drink turned into two, which turned into Thanksgivings in Washington State and Christmases in France.
In between, we have built a life together in Tribeca, where we share an apartment (and the couch) with our two cats––Archie, who Mari adopted in her second year of law school in Michigan, and Diva, a reformed bodega cat who Alex spotted at an adoption event on the Upper West Side after taking the subway one stop too far for our dinner reservations.
Though we come from very different worlds––Alex was born in Lyon and grew up moving between France, California, and Singapore; Mari is a Tacoma girl through and through who grew up exploring the mountains and waters of Puget Sound––together we have built a home and a life that feels like both of us: a little French polish, some West Coast chill, and a lot of cats.
We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you!

Bormes les Mimosas
In Bormes les Mimosas, on the Mediterranean coast, Château Malherbe is a 60-hectare property, composed of two unique and preserved terroirs: Malherbe on the foothills of Cap Bénat and Pointe du Diable on the sea front (28 hectares).
The vineyard stretches from the beach to rolling hills and offers tours via ebike and golf cart, as well as wine tasting.

Bormes-les-Mimosas
Nestled high above the coast and famous for its signature flowered walls, we recommend a day trip to Bormes-les-Mimosas. Don’t forget your hiking boots––this area is very hilly.

Porquerolles
Hop on the ferry from Hyères to Porquerolles for a perfect day trip. The island is car-free, with bikes for rent right by the port and beaches that look straight out of a postcard. Pack a towel, sunscreen, and maybe a bottle of rosé — the last ferry back usually catches the sunset.

Aix-en-Provence
About an hour and a half north of Hyères, Aix is a classic Provençal town full of fountains, markets, and tree-lined boulevards. It’s perfect for a relaxed day of wandering, shopping, and lingering over lunch at an outdoor café.

Cassis & the Calanques
Cassis
If you have a car and want a bit of adventure, head to Cassis (about an hour away). The seaside town is beautiful, and you can take a boat tour through the Calanques — dramatic limestone cliffs and turquoise coves that are absolutely stunning.
Travel
We know this will be a long travel day for our American guests and we can’t wait to welcome you in Hyères with a glass of champagne!
From the U.S., we recommend flying into Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE), which has direct flights from New York and other major east coast airports, and renting a car. Hyères is about a two hour drive from the airport. If you want to explore the Côte d’Azur while you’re here, a car will come in handy.
Hyères is also accessible by train if you will already be in Europe prior to the wedding.
Accommodations
It is not common in France for hotels to offer room blocks, so we are providing a list of a few hotels that are close to the venue and from which we will offer shuttle service to and from Castel Bay for the ceremony and reception.
Summer in the south of France can be very busy, so we recommend booking as early as possible. If you would prefer to stay in an Airbnb, there are many options in the area. We recommend picking an Airbnb close to these hotels if you would like to use the shuttle service.

We are beyond grateful to be celebrating our wedding with you. We appreciate you coming from far and wide to be with us this summer. Your attendance is gift enough, but for those who would like, we have put together our registry with items to help us start this next chapter in our lives.

We know this is a big trip with a lot of logistics, so we’ve added some information below to answer questions you may have!
How do we get to Hyères?
For those flying to France, we recommend traveling to the Nice airport, which has several nonstop flights from the U.S. From there, we recommend renting a car and driving the roughly hour and a half to Hyères.
Hyères is also available via train for those already in Europe prior to the wedding.
What time does the ceremony start?
The ceremony begins promptly at 5:30pm. We recommend arriving at the venue no later than 5:00pm so that you can easily find a seat. For those using the bus transport from the Hyeres hotels, the buses will arrive by 5:00pm.
What is the bus schedule for those staying in Hyeres?
On Friday, buses will depart the welcome party in Le Lavandou at 9:30 and 11 PM, returning guests to each of the four hotels we have recommended.
On Saturday, buses will pick guests up at their hotels on the below schedule. For those staying at Le Lodge and Hameau des Pesquiers, note that the buses will pick guests up a short walk from the hotels as we cannot pick up on property.

While we do hope you can join us all weekend, we understand if you’re unable. Please let us know what your plans are so we can coordinate our welcome party and brunch accordingly.
Is there a dress code?

At our wedding, guests are invited to dress in cocktail or semi-formal attire. Gentlemen should wear a suit — ties are not required. Light colors and linen fabrics are welcome and well-suited to the summer climate. Ladies should wear a dress or jumpsuit at or below the knee.
The ceremony will take place outdoors in the South of France in late July. Temperatures will be warm during the afternoon ceremony and will cool to a comfortable level as the evening progresses.
What will the weather be like?
Late July on the Côte d’Azur brings warm, sunny conditions with very little rainfall. Daytime temperatures typically reach the high 80s°F (around 30°C), and the coastal location means humidity is noticeable, particularly in the afternoon. Skies are reliably clear, with up to 13 hours of sunshine per day. As the sun sets, temperatures drop to a more comfortable low-to-mid 70s°F (around 20–22°C), with a gentle sea breeze making for a pleasant evening.

While we adore the little ones in our lives, we have chosen to host an adults-only celebration.
